My son loves macaroni and cheese. In fact, one of the first words he used regularly was “mac”. I also love macaroni and cheese. This Instant Pot Mac and Cheese recipe couldn’t be easier. It’s quick and there’s no pot to watch. You can use just about any cut of pasta you like. You can use whatever milk you have handy. Use your favorite cheese or a combination of cheeses.
I must admit, I’ve made macaroni and cheese from the box in my Instant Pot. If you don’t have the ingredients on hand for a homemade batch, you can cheat and use the boxed stuff too. Simply add the dry pasta, 1 cup of water, and 2 Tablespoons of butter to the pot. Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes. Quick Release. Add in 1/4 cup milk and the cheesy powder and voila – you have mac and cheese. Then get yourself to the grocery store so that you can make it from scratch next time.
Once you realize how easy it is to make your own pasta dishes in the Instant Pot, you may never boil it on the stove again. Check out these tried and true pasta recipes from Instant Pot.
Note: This is a “half” recipe, perfect for a side dish for 4 people. If you want leftovers or will be eating this as a main course, the recipe is easily doubled.
